Restaurant Review: Blue Lemon

Blue Lemon
11073 N Alpine Hwy
Highland, UT 84003

My husband and I have been wanting to try the Blue Lemon for a long time. Now I wish we would not have waited so long! I would described the Blue Lemon as fast food fine dining. You walk in, order you food at the counter, and they bring it out to your table,  but the establishment is very clean with modern decor, and the food is artfully plated.

It was very hard to choose what to get! the menu is not huge, but everything looks good. I convinced my husband he wanted the fish tacos along with a southwest chicken soup, while I ordered the side salad ( pear, spinach and Gorgonzola) and and order of the sweet potato fries. Their kids meals are reasonably priced at 5 dollars each, and include a drink. We ordered the kids the cheese quesadilla and the macaroni and cheese.

The kids meals were great! The quesadilla was made on a green spinach tortilla, which my daughter thought was so cool. It was also huge! However, it was just a quesadilla, so the flavor was not all that impressive. The macaroni was not Kraft (I hate to pay 5 dollars for a little serving of Kraft macaroni and cheese, even though it is the best). It was homemade, perfectly cheesy, with a flavorful crunchy top. Both kids meals also came with a fresh fruit yogurt cup that the kids loved.

The fish tacos were some of the best I have had. The unique thing about the fish tacos is they are made with shrimp, salmon, and mahi-mahi. The meal comes as a "make your own" so  you can decide how much stuff you want to put on it. The sauce to go long with the tacos was very good, and a little spicy too!

The Southwest Chicken Tortilla soup was also very good. You could tell everything was very fresh. It had the right amount of ingredients in it, and it had a nice kick to it, more then you wold expect.

My favorite part of the meal was my "side salad". I hate side salads, it is usually bagged lettuce with some nice kraft ranch dressing on it. This was not the case at Blue Lemon. The side salad was a fresh spinach, these deliciously sweet pears, big chunks of Gorgonzola, cut up grapes, and an awesome vinegertte. I was very impressed. I would go back just for the salad.

The sweet potato fries were the most disappointing. They were good, but a little more charred then I would like. However, the thai peanut dipping sauce was delicious. I might have eaten it with my finger after the fries were gone.

We had a great experience, and the kids loved eating at a "fancy place". I can't wait to go back!
