Restaurant Review: Hibachi House

Trent and I have been wanting to try out the Hibachi house since it opened, and tonight we finally did. I was not expecting much, because it seemed like one of those over Americanized Japanese restaurants. I am happy to say I was pleasantly surprised! The menu is similar to Tepanyaki, but much cheaper. Their entrees included chicken, shrimp, fillet minion, salmon and scallops, along with several appetizers, sides, and about 15 different kinds of sushi rolls.

It is set up like fast food, where you order and pay, then they call your number when it is ready. The first thing I noticed is they serve you in a styrofoam take home box. Some people may not like, but it was so convenient. They give you a lot of food, and this saves you the trouble of having to go ask for one!

Trent and I ordered one entree that came with veggies, fried noodles, shrimp, salmon and scallops, and we also got a 6 piece spicy crunchy salmon roll, and a side order of fried noodles. It came to 23 dollars and it fed both Trent and I, plus we brought enough home to feed the kids too!

The food was really good, in fact, Trent and I both agreed it was better than Tepanyaki. Everything was cooked really well, and the sauce they used on the sea food and veggies was amazing. It was a little bit sweet but savory at the same time. The rolls were my favorite. Our spicy crunchy salmon roll had the right amount of spice, the flavor was excellent and the nori was not too chewy (which is a pet peeve of mine). The fried noodles were pretty good, though Tepanyaki definitely wins in that category.

Over all we were really pleased to find a great Japanese restaurant so close to home! We will be going back again soon to try more rolls, their fried rice, and of course the miso soup. Even better, there is always a coupon!
